Silk thread wrapped around a wire and then "purled" into a coil is not revolutionary. What is new is our contemporary approach of offering a broader color range of Silk Wrapped Purl, providing a creative opportunity for raised embroidery effects.Packaged in clear boxes, this newest size of Silk Wrapped Purl joins our product line of unique specialty threads for hand embroidery.
Silk Wrapped Purl can be sewn on as is, pulled apart and left kinky, cut into precise short pieces and sewn on fabric or canvas like a large beads, or flattened to create an entirely different look. When cutting we do recommended not using your good embroidery scissors, as cutting wired threads of any kind will dull the blades.
All colors of Silk Wrapped Purl can be purchased with the recommended Au Ver a Soie, Soie 100/3 couching thread to match. We suggest using beeswax on the Soie 100/3 with a Crewel #10 needle for couching or attaching the wire to your work.
